Whiskey Hill Dock

We have loved congregating with friends on Whiskey Hill Dock. We have rowed and sailed during many of our sunsets on Whiskey Hill. Every July 4th many of us from Whiskey Hill would congregate on the dock for a pre firework party and then climb onto our respective boats to get a perfect view of the fireworks. From our boat we always thought the fireworks were just over our heads. These Dock experiences have been one of our great social experiences while living in this extraordinaire home that I have loved so much. Whiskey hill Dock is limited to only people whom live on Whiskey Hill and their friends or family. There are no buoys available in Fisherman Bay, they say, for another 50 years. Having a dock space is quite rare.

Gardens

The garden! It is such an easy maintenance garden with huge rewards. I have cut flowers from April until the last Dahlia blooms at the end of October. The garden is completely deer and bunny proof. For Lopez Island these are two important factors in having a successful garden. I have been asked to be in the Lopez Island Garden Show in the past. I have 4 planter boxes for planting vegetables. Some are filled with roses. The mud room is a perfect place to work on plants and to grow tomatoes, fresh basil and many other fresh herbs.

Africa Room

My husband added a room onto our home and directly after we went off to Africa. We brought home beautiful relics from all parts of Africa therefore we always called this warm, sunny room “The Africa Room”. I love the view of Fisherman Bay through the trees. The bird watching is glorious. I love to watch the bright yellow finches fluttering around on the bird-feeder and deck.

The Kitchen

Preparing a gourmet dinner parties for friends and family. The Viking stove is such a wonderful asset to my kitchen. Corian countertops are the best medium for baking pies. It’s great when people are gathered at the old growth redwood bar as I prepare an artistic dinner. From every direction in my kitchen I can view the water and trees and all the birds swarming around the bird feeders.
